Hidden Wife

The car moved steadily along the long, dusty road as the sun began to set behind the hills. Inside, Isha slept peacefully, her head resting against the window, soft strands of her hair fluttering with the cool air from the AC. Rudraksha sat beside her, scrolling through his phone silently, his face calm and unreadable.

Suddenly, the car jolted to a stop.

The sudden break startled Isha. She slipped in her sleep, jerking awake. Confused, she looked outside the window - and her breath caught.

The Rajawat Haveli stood in front of her, bathed in golden lights, shining like a newlywed bride.

Every corner of the grand mansion shimmered with fresh decorations and festive aura.

"Wow..." she mumbled sleepily, but when she turned, he was already out of the car.

Rubbing her eyes, gathering her strength, she somehow managed to step out and followed him, her steps wobbly from the weight of her lehenga and her lingering sleep.

At the grand main door, a welcoming party awaited them - Yamini Devi, Aunt Nikita, and the twins, Ayansh and Anvika. Their faces lit up the moment they saw Isha, warmth radiating from them.

Yamini came forward with a soft smile and said lovingly,
**"Beta, now as per tradition, touch this pot of rice with your right foot and topple it gently. Then, step into the house by placing your feet in this vermilion thali and walk inside."**

Nervous but determined, Isha did exactly as instructed. Her delicate foot touched the kalash, making it topple forward, rice spilling out symbolically, welcoming prosperity into the house. She then placed her feet into the thali filled with vermilion paste and walked slowly inside, leaving beautiful red footprints - her first steps into her new home.

Afterward, Yamini led them both to the home temple. Together they folded their hands and prayed.

Isha prayed sincerely for a beautiful new life ahead, while Rudraksha merely stood silently beside her, lost in his own world.

Once the prayers ended, Yamini smiled and said,
**"Anvi beta, take Isha to her room."**

Anvika chirped excitedly,
**"Yes, chaliye bhabhisa!"**

Giggling, she grabbed Isha's hand and led her through the huge, beautifully decorated haveli. They finally reached Rudraksha's room - massive, draped in deep black and grey tones, exuding a king-like aura.

Anvika left after wishing her goodnight, and Isha, exhausted, quickly changed into a simple white palazzo and kurti. She thought about waiting for Rudraksha... after all, they hadn't even spoken properly since the wedding was fixed.

But tiredness overtook her, and within minutes, she dozed off on the couch.

Later, Rudraksha entered the room, exhausted, his expression unreadable. His eyes fell on Isha's sleeping form - peaceful, unaware. Without much thought, he changed and collapsed on the bed, mind swirling with conflicting emotions.

He wasn't ready for this marriage... but now, he was trapped.

His gaze briefly drifted toward Isha before he surrendered to sleep.

Next Morning

Isha woke up to unfamiliar surroundings, blinking away sleep. Then, realization hit her -

She was married now.

She sat up abruptly on the couch, looking around. Rudraksha was nowhere to be seen.

A soft knock sounded at the door. Anvika peeked in, smiling brightly.

"Bhabhisa! Aap uth gayi? Jaldi se ready ho jaiye, sab neeche wait kar rahe hain!"

Isha nodded and hurried to get ready. She wore a stunning red saree, left her hair loose, applied a small maroon bindi, adorned her forehead with sindoor, and adjusted her delicate mangalsutra - embracing her new identity fully.

When she descended the grand staircase, the entire living room turned to look at her.

Ayansh dramatically clutched his chest and exclaimed,
"Offo bhabhisa, aap toh had se zyada sundar lag rahi ho!"

Isha blushed deeply, looking down shyly.

Yamini added warmly, "Aao beta, sach mein bohot sundar lag rahi ho."

They asked her to prepare a sweet dish as part of the First Rasoi ritual.

A flash of panic crossed Isha's face - cooking was not her strength.
But determined, she said yes. She sneaked into the kitchen and followed a YouTube tutorial carefully to prepare kheer.

When the family gathered at the dining table, she nervously placed the bowls. As she stood there nervously, footsteps echoed behind her.

Rudraksha entered, dressed sharply in a black suit, exuding power and confidence.

Isha's heart skipped a beat at the sight. Shyly, she lowered her gaze.

Yamini smiled and nudged gently,
**"Isha beta, jao Rudra ke paas jaakar baitho."**

Flushed, Isha quietly sat beside him, her heart pounding.

Everyone tasted the kheer and showered her with praises, making her breathe a sigh of relief. She stole a glance at Rudraksha, hoping - yearning - for a word of approval.
But he remained silent, cold.

After breakfast, Rudraksha leaned toward Avinash seriously and said,
**"Baba, I need to talk."**

Avinash nodded, "Bolo beta."

Rudraksha's voice was firm, emotionless.
**"I don't want the news of this marriage to go public right now. Elections are near. I don't want any unnecessary attention."**

Avinash agreed with a nod.

The words hit Isha harder than she expected.
**She was now a hidden bride - invisible in Rudraksha's grand world.**

Swallowing her hurt, she stayed silent.

Later, Yamini came to her and said softly,
**"Beta, jaake thoda rest kar lo. Shaam ko pagphere ke liye apne ghar jaana hai."**

Isha nodded, feeling overwhelmed, and went back to their room.
Just as she entered, she saw Rudraksha storming out, a file in his hand, speaking loudly on the phone.

"I don't want excuses, Vikram. I only want results!"
His voice echoed through the hallway before he disappeared.

Isha stood frozen near the door, her heart heavy.
**She wanted him to notice her... to talk to her... to see her. But he didn't.**

With door clicked shut behind Rudraksha, Isha sat there, numb.

Her mind was a whirlwind of unanswered questions.

Why?

Why didn't he want to reveal their marriage?

Was he ashamed of her?

Or was it something else entirely?

Her chest tightened painfully at the thought.

And above all, it was his cold, distant behavior that hurt the most.

Since the moment she had entered his life, he hadn't once looked at her properly, hadn't said a word that wasn't formal or necessary.

Not even a single glance - not even accidental.

It was as if she didn't exist in his world.

Isha hugged her knees close, feeling small and unwanted in the enormous, grand room that now belonged to her as much as it belonged to him.

"What wrong did I do?" she whispered to herself, voice cracking in the emptiness.

Her heart kept searching for some sign - some hope - that maybe this marriage meant something to him too. But all she got was silence.

The silence hurt more than any words ever could.

Tears pricked at the corners of her eyes, but she quickly wiped them away. She didn't want to cry.

Not here.

Not for someone who didn't even care to look at her once.

Drawing in a shaky breath, she stood up and slowly walked to the window, staring out at the sprawling gardens. Somewhere deep inside, she still wanted to believe - maybe... just maybe - Rudraksha needed time.

Maybe he too was adjusting.

But as of now, all she had was loneliness... and a heart full of unspoken feelings.

-------

Two hours later, Anvika burst into the room with her usual excitement.

"Bhabhisa! Aap ready ho jao, aapko apne ghar bhi jaana hai pagphere ke liye!" she said, almost dragging Isha out of her thoughts.

Smiling, Isha nodded and quickly went to get ready.

She chose a beautiful green saree, the color making her complexion glow. She wore a delicate waist chain that shimmered against her skin, and let her long hair fall open over her back. Today, she felt a little lighter - happy - because she was going to meet her family again.

After getting fully dressed, Isha stood in front of the mirror, adjusting her earrings.

Softly, she began to hum her favorite tune, "Tose naina jab se mile..." her voice barely above a whisper.

The melody floated in the air like a dream.

Just then, Isha felt a strange, intense gaze on her.

Just then, Isha felt a strange, intense gaze on her

Her fingers paused. Slowly, she lifted her eyes and looked into the mirror.

Through the reflection, she saw Rudraksha standing at the door, watching her.

His dark, unreadable eyes were not on her face, but lower - lingering on her bare waist where the silver chain rested lightly against her skin.

His gaze was deep... almost possessive.

For a few seconds, time seemed to stop.

Isha's cheeks flamed. Instinctively, she pulled her pallu across her waist, covering herself. Their eyes met in the mirror - her soft brown versus his intense black.

The connection was electric.

But almost immediately, Rudraksha tore his eyes away and turned to leave, his expression back to being stoic and unreadable.

Isha stood there, heart thudding wildly. She felt butterflies explode inside her stomach.

Blushing hard, she followed him out of the room, her mind still spinning.

Inside her head, her own heart mocked her playfully:

"Haan haan Ishu... ab kyu sharma rahi ho? Yehi to chahti thi na ki vo tumhe dekhe?"

And then she whispered to herself,

"Par itni gehraai se dekh rahe the... jaise rooh tak dekh rahe ho meri .."

The memory of his gaze made her blush even harder.

Downstairs, Yamini's voice broke her thoughts.

"Aa gayi Isha beta? Jaao, Rudraksha bahar wait kar raha hai."

Isha nodded and quickly walked out.

Outside, Rudraksha was already seated in the car, his face turned away, lost in some thought.

She slipped into the seat beside him quietly. Without a word, the driver started the engine.

Around their car, five black SUVs moved along - Rudraksha's personal security detail.

The convoy of powerful cars sped smoothly through the roads, but inside their vehicle, silence reigned.

Neither of them said a word.

Isha occasionally stole small glances at Rudraksha, her mind still caught up in the moment they had shared in front of the mirror.

He didn't look at her again.

But somewhere deep inside, a soft hope began to bloom in her heart -

Maybe, just maybe, she wasn't invisible to him after all.

------------

As the car slowly pulled into the familiar driveway, Isha's heart swelled with emotions she couldn't even name.

Her mother, father, younger brother Arjun, and her beloved Nani were all standing at the entrance, smiles stretched wide across their faces, waiting eagerly.

The moment Isha and Rudraksha stepped out, her mother rushed forward with a puja thali.

"Ruko, pehle aarti kar leti hoon," Mrs. Sharma said, her voice thick with happiness.

Both Isha and Rudraksha stood at the door, heads bowed respectfully, while Mrs. Sharma did their aarti with trembling, joyful hands.

After completing the aarti, she gently touched their foreheads with the thal's diya light and welcomed them inside.

Rudraksha bent down immediately and touched Mr. and Mrs. Sharma's feet.

Isha, watching from the side, felt her heart glow with pride.

Seeing Rudraksha show such respect to her parents made her feel deeply happy.

They were soon seated comfortably in the living room.
Mr. Sharma and Rudraksha fell into easy conversation - politics, business, life - while Mrs. Sharma beamed and kept serving snacks.

After a while, a cup of coffee was placed into Rudraksha's hand.
He sipped politely, and after finishing, he stood up.

"Main chalta hoon, shaam ko wapas aa jaunga," he said, looking briefly at Isha.

Isha nodded quietly.

From the corner, Arjun called out teasingly, "Bye, jiju!"
Rudraksha only smiled faintly and left, the door closing softly behind him.

As soon as he was gone, Arjun pounced.

They laughed, and slowly the entire house was filled with warmth and chatter again.

Later, after some talking and catching up, Mrs. Sharma lovingly said,
"Ja beta, thoda aaram kar le. Shaam ko fir se tayar bhi hona padega."

Isha agreed and went to her room to freshen up.
After a few hours, she and Arjun were sitting again in the living room, arguing over some random silly topic - whether mangoes or lychees were better!

In a fit of mock anger, Isha grabbed a cushion and hurled it at Arjun.

He ducked and ran - and to her utter horror, the cushion flew straight and hit someone entering through the door.

Time froze.

Isha's eyes widened in complete shock.

Rudraksha stood at the door, the cushion now awkwardly at his feet.

He was staring at her - a smirk slowly playing on his lips - because moments ago her face was lit with laughter, and now it was pale with horror.

Isha stood there, mouth open like a fish.

Rudraksha, dressed casually in a black shirt and jeans, looked impossibly handsome and way too amused.

He slowly walked toward her, his smirk growing deeper.

"Shut your mouth, Mrs. Rajawat," he said, his voice low with amusement.

Isha snapped her mouth shut instantly, her face turning redder than a tomato.

but after listen Mrs. Rajawat she agin feel butterfies ans wishper .

"I-I'm so sorry! I was throwing it at Arjun, not at you!" she stammered, flustered beyond words.

Just then, Mrs. Sharma came rushing in,
"Arey beta, aap aa gaye! Aaiye, baithiye."

Without another word, Isha fled to her room, heart thundering in her chest.

Mrs. Sharma looked after her confused,
"Isse kya hua?" she asked, shaking her head.

Mr. Sharma chuckled quietly as he sat down with Rudraksha again, chatting about work and their future plans.

Later that evening, when dinner was served, Isha returned, meek and silent, keeping her gaze firmly on her plate.

Throughout the dinner, she avoided meeting Rudraksha's eyes, burning in shame.

After the meal, it was time to leave.
Isha and Rudraksha got ready at the door.

Just before stepping out, Arjun came close to Isha and whispered mischievously in her ear,
"Aaya maza jiju ko cushion se maar ke?"

Isha glared at him and hissed back,
"Tujhe to baad mein dekh lungi!"

Arjun just grinned and waved innocently.

With that, Isha and Rudraksha left the house once again - silently, yet this time... there was a faint, unspoken pull between them.
